4th December 2023

📸O’Donovan Rossa Junior Ladies are through to the All-Ireland Final which will take place Sunday December 17th at 2pm in Parnell Park, Dublin.

🚨 The streets of Dublin were overwhelmed by a far-right and violent mob last Thursday week leaving our migrant community fearful for their safety. I asked the Taoiseach how he could still have confidence in the Garda Commissioner and the Justice Minister: https://youtu.be/qOEkL45dbnw

🗣️Gary Gannon, our TD for Dublin Central, spoke about the trauma experienced by families of  Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuire, and how they have been let down since the horrific attack last week https://www.instagram.com/p/C0NEPzmsvH8/?hl=en

🚔 The threat of the far-right and the lack of adequate policing in Dublin City Centre have been called out by the Social Democrats for years. But the Justice Minister and the Garda Commissioner absolutely failed to address the threat prior to the riots last Thursday: https://youtu.be/-qyzj5aE5Ek

🐕  On Wednesday, I again called for the end to public funding for the greyhound industry. Unfortunately the annual public funding was voted through by Government, Sinn Féin, some of Labour, and Independent TDs: https://youtu.be/Kh2AlvM0C5c

🏡 Rents have gone up €4,200 a year under this Government. Their approach to the housing crisis has failed. We need an urgent 3 year rent freeze, no-fault eviction ban, and a rent register to provide transparency around costs: https://youtu.be/xEKXbJ472VI

⚖️ Minister McEntee appears to have removed essential new proposals on consent in new rape reform laws. I am following up with her office to get clarity: http://tiny.cc/dr3gvz

📝 Government has launched a public consultation on the setting of a new national child poverty target. You can make your submissions here until January 19th: https://www.gov.ie/…/153e6-national-child-poverty…/

🏡 I asked the Minister for Housing to ensure housing options are made available on our islands to ensure younger generations and full-time residents can remain: https://www.oireachtas.ie/…/question/2023-11-28/346/…

🎄 Skibbereen switched on their Christmas lights on Friday and I was so happy to get to attend with our local election candidate, Isobel Towse.
